WASHINGTON TEACHERS’ UNION AND MAKING CHANGE AT WALMART CALL OUT WALTON-FUNDED CHARTER SCHOOLS

(WASHINGTON, DC) – On Friday, August 12, 2016, at 10:00am ET, the Washington Teachers’ Union (WTU) and Making Change at Walmart (MCAW) will join elected officials and other supporters of public education at a press conference to call attention to the way the Walton family and Walmart are short-changing Washington, DC’s students.

WHAT: Press conference regarding how the Walton family and the world’s largest retailer, Walmart, undermine public schools

WHO: Hosted by Making Change at Walmart and the Washington Teachers’ Union; speakers will include:

– Elizabeth Davis, WTU President
– Jackie Hines, Ward 3 teacher at Murch Elementary School
– Robin Ham, former Walmart worker
– Tierra Jolly, DC State Board of Education member
– Aundrea Blair, grandmother of DCPS Ward 8 student
