ARE WALMART’S VALUES THE SAME AS TRUMP’S VALUES? CAMPAIGN ASKING WALMART TO DENOUNCE TRUMP’S BIGOTRY CONTINUES

New actions include grassroots rallies at Trump properties and an online video

Washington, DC — In an effort to pressure Walmart into denouncing presumptive Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump’s racist, xenophobic, and misogynistic statements, Making Change at Walmart (MCAW) is announcing a series of new grassroots and online initiatives.

As part of MCAW’s “Are Walmart’s Values the Same as Trump’s Values?” campaign, a new hard-hitting video will be released as a prelude to actions being planned in front of Trump properties in Chicago, New York City and Washington, DC.

The powerful new video, called “Do the Right Thing,” will be released nationally online and highlights how major companies like Apple, Walgreens, and Wells Fargo have all denounced Mr. Trump, while Walmart continues to remain silent regarding whether or not it will withdraw its support of the 2016 Republican National Convention.

“Do the Right Thing” asks supporters to add their names to a letter to Walmart CEO Doug McMillon that calls on the company to publicly vow not to support or donate to the convention due to Donald Trump’s history of racist, misogynistic, anti-veteran, and Islamophobic remarks. To date, the letter has over 10,000 signatures.

“Are Walmart’s values the same as Donald Trump’s values? This is the question that Walmart has refused to answer. If they are one in the same, Walmart should admit it, and let the American people decide where they want to shop.

“We hope that Walmart listens to the thousands who have called on them to do the right thing and withdraw support for the Republican convention,” said Jess Levin, communications director at MCAW. “As the nation’s largest retailer, Walmart has a responsibility to distance itself from Trump’s long history of racist, misogynistic, anti-veteran, and Islamophobic statements.”

In addition to the letter, MCAW will be holding actions in front of Trump properties in New York City, Chicago and Washington, DC, on Thursday, July 7.
